Portrait and documentary sessions for families facing life-threatening illnesses
For me, photography and gratitude have always been linked together. Each portrait is barely a second in time, and yet it is a testimony to something greater than itself.
I keep a few of these kinds of pictures in my bedside drawer. The pictures of my family-- precancer diagnosis, postcancer diagnosis. The time when we knew we would be three instead of four. And over twenty years later, they’re still some of the most precious things to me.
The richness of a photograph isn’t just the ability to freeze a moment but to bring you back to a moment after you know more of the story. A photograph brings back a flood of emotions, helps you remember the details, and makes you thankful for what was, hopeful for what’s coming.
These photographs are for remembering a time when you were carried. They remind you of the faithful love that’s woven through the mountains and valleys of life.
In my life, they’re catalysts for stories for my boys about their Grandpa Jon, for remembering that he was a man who loved and lived well, for remembering to be thankful for his legacy and how it shaped our family.
As a daughter who lost a father and as a mother now, I know how important these pictures are now and twenty years from now, and I want your family to have them too.
